Chris Taylor Won by 20 points — Now Let's Build on It: 8th CD Convention Updates Inside

April 8, 2026

Fellow Democrats:

What a night.

Wisconsin Democrats showed up yesterday in a way that should put every one of us in a good mood heading into the heart of this election cycle. Chris Taylor won her State Supreme Court race by more than 20 points. That margin does not happen by accident. It happens because Democrats in this district and across this state are energized, organized, and ready to fight for what matters.

Let that sink in for a moment. Then let's build on it.

Which brings me to our upcoming 8th CD Convention and some news I want to share with you directly.

At the convention, I will be stepping down as your District Chair. First Vice Chair Amy Trader and Secretary Connie Jordan will also be stepping down from their roles. All three positions will be open for election at the convention, and delegates will have the opportunity to elect the leadership team that will carry the 8th CD through what I believe will be the most consequential election cycle this district has seen in years.

I am proud of what we have built together. And I am genuinely excited about what comes next for this district, for this party, and for the people we are fighting for.

This is exactly the moment to get involved. The convention is your opportunity to help shape the leadership of the 8th, vote on resolutions that may become part of the Wisconsin Democratic Party platform, connect with engaged Democrats from across the district, and meet candidates for Governor, State Treasurer, State Assembly, and U.S. Congress. This includes a fun speed-dating style candidate conversation event where you will get real face time with the people asking for your vote. (This is instead of a long slate of speeches).

If you have been thinking about stepping up as a delegate, as a candidate for leadership, or simply as someone who wants a seat at the table, this is the moment.

Registration closes April 25th. All the details are below and at our website.

I hope to see you there.

With gratitude and optimism,

Julie Hancock, Chair 8th CD Dems
