Democratic Party of the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin

A Note from the Chair

September 7, 2025

How is it September already? Welcome to Fall and Football Season! #GoPackGo. Lots going on across Northeast Wisconsin!

We have four (4) candidates hoping to be on the primary ballot for the 8th Congressional District race to challenge Tony Wied in Fall 2026.

Wisconsin's primary is held in August 2026.

This means there is almost a year before we cast our votes.

During this time, it is your duty as voters to determine which, if any, of these candidates speaks to you - to your values, to your issue priorities, and to making life better for you and your loved ones. Talk with the candidates, get to know them and give them feedback.

This is as much a time for them to listen as it is for you, as voters, to learn and decide who earns your support.

During this time, the Democratic Party will not and cannot endorse or support a specific candidate, unless under extraordinary circumstances.

If the county parties invite candidates to speak at an event, it should not be seen as an endorsement. Likewise, if the 8th CD or the county parties share campaign materials put out by the candidates, this is also not an endorsement. It is merely the party aiding in educating you, our voting public on the choices before you.

Your support, your volunteer efforts, your donations, and your votes to any candidate are the voice which decides who is a viable candidate for the Democratic Party Ticket.

Preparing for the General Election

The 8th Congressional District Dems will be ramping up our own fundraising efforts during this time so that we can provide critical support to the candidate who wins the primary. It is crucial we undertake fundraising because we do not get financial support from the WisDems, DCCC, or DNC. Please consider donating to help build our war chest. We know we can win this district, and 2026 can be our year!

This is what democracy looks like, so put the candidates through their paces, determine who aligns with you, and let's find a candidate to beat Tony Wied in 2026!

In Solidarity,

Julie Hancock, Chair 8th Cong. District Dems of Wisconsin
